Main stories in Issue N0. 1, Volume 17:

“It borders on the supernatural” – The Times

“The outcome of the recent UK general election highlights a major transformation in national consciousness,” says Dr Peter Warburton, Raja of Invincible Great Britain, in the opening article of this issue. Referring to comments from both leading politicians and the media, he reflects on the new atmosphere of cooperation in British politics, and attributes it to the growing coherence in world consciousness created by Maharishi’s programmes.

Celebration of Akshaya Tritiya – the Day of Lasting Achievements
Akshaya Tritiya, the Day of Lasting Achievements, occupies a special place in the Vedic Calendar as the most auspicious day in the year for starting new initiatives. It is the day when, according to Maharishi Jyotish, or Vedic Astrology, Surya, the Sun, and Chandra, the Moon, are both in their astrological signs of exaltation. This article recalls Maharishi’s inspiring address on Akshaya Tritiya in 2007 and summarises some of the beautiful points brought out by Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam, First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace, at this year’s celebration on 16 May.

Plans launched for Maharishi Peace Colony on Edinburgh Waterfront
On 16 May, Akshaya Tritiya, the Day of Lasting Achievements, plans were launched for the establishment of a Maharishi Peace Colony and a Campus for Invincible Donovan University on Edinburgh Waterfront. In this article, David Rae, National Director of Maharishi’s organisation in Scotland, answers questions about this exciting initiative.

The unlimited source of power within

“May God bless every man to turn within and tap the unlimited source of power that lies within.” – Maharishi, July 1960.

At the end of last year, we celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Maharishi’s first visit to Great Britain, in December 1959. He spent much of the following year in London, using it as a base from which to visit other parts of the country and various countries in Europe, spreading his message that life is bliss. This article is an excerpt from Thirty Years around the World – Dawn of the Age of Enlightenment, and is from a lecture he gave on 11 July 1960 to a large audience at the Guildhall in Cambridge.

National Directors plan for expansion

Richard Johnson, National Director for England, reports on the recent conference of European National Directors at MERU, Holland, and looks forward to seeing a rapid expansion of Maharishi’s programmes in the coming months.

The ultimate building in tune with Nature

“There’s no other building like this going up in the nation, or in the world for that matter, that we know of.”

This is how Mike Nicklas, a leading expert in green building, describes the new Sustainable Living Centre that is being built at Maharishi University of Management (MUM) Fairfield, USA. An interesting article about this new building that is at the cutting edge of sustainable construction.

Sustainable human beings for a sustainable world

This article reports on the inspiring talk by John Fagan PhD on the subject of sustainability and food security that was broadcast earlier this year on Maharishi Channel. Dr Fagan is Raja (Administrator) with responsibility for Food Purity and Healthy Invincibility in Maharishi’s global organisation and is a world expert on the hazards of genetic engineering, and the solutions offered by Maharishi’s Vedic Science, including Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture.

TM taps into natural brain mode

A review of the new EEG study, published in February in the US journal Cognitive Processing, that indicates that people who practise Transcendental Meditation are able to systematically tap into what scientists are calling the default mode of brain functioning, a natural ‘ground state’ of the brain that is experienced when individuals are resting but alert.
